A midwife visits the surgery on Tuesday mornings for an ante-natal clinic. Doctors are available to be seen at other times. All appointments for the midwifes must be pre-booked.
Midwifes visit mothers and babies at home shortly after birth. These appointments are arranged directly with the midwife. We like to see mother and baby at the surgery when the baby is six weeks old to meet the new arrival and make sure all is going well. Health visitors will also make contact during this time. We are always happy to see parents of young babies at the surgery at any time if they have concerns.
Child Development Checks
Doctors provide a child development check for babies at six to eight weeks and health visitors for pre-school children. Please do come and see us if you are worried about your child's development at any age.
Baby and Pre-school Vaccinations
We encourage all children to have the full range of baby and pre-school vaccinations to protect them from potentially serious illnesses. Please make an appointment with our practice nurse Carole. We are happy to discuss the vaccination programme with you if you have any questions.
Health Visitor Clinics
Health visitors run a clinic on Thursday afternoons, between 13:30 and 15:00, and Friday mornings, between 09:30 and 11:00 , to weigh and measure babies and young children and discuss any concerns. These are drop in clinics and no appointment is necessary.
If you have diabetes you will be asked to attend regular clinics for check ups. Nurse Practitioner Sue Russell and Nurse Kathy Boon hold certificates in diabetes care.
Asthma and COPD
If you have asthma or COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) Nurse Practitioner Sue Russell will monitor your condition in regular check ups.

They offer them the time, empathy and respect they need to express their feelings and perhaps understand themselves from a different perspective. The aim is reduce their confusion and enable them to cope with challenges or to make positive changes in their life where necessary.
